Have tried replacing hard drive, does not matter, get same error on new drive.  Have contacted HP they are no help what so ever.  Looked at google search those solutions do not work.

Have tried those solutions, nothing seems to work with my installation though?
you tried other restore cd's???
I have gotten 2 sets from HP with the same conclusion.  HP is not very cooperative.  It took 2 weeks to get the first set and 3 weeks to get a replacemnet.  When it all said and done, the tech indicated it was a hard drive issue and hung up.  I have been tryiong to get this laptop back up and running since 1/2/2010.  I have purchased two different new hard drives just to make sure and the same issue with each.  Thus 3 hard drives tried with same outcome.
that sounds like a real problem...
what laptop is it?
HP Pavillion DV6815nr
ok; let's do some homework first..
to verify if the hardware is ok, boot from a live Knoppix cd : ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/dist/knoppix/KNOPPIX_V6.2CD-2009-11-18-EN.iso

then run diags on ram and disk, to be sure your basics are ok, so download the ubcd  :  http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

and run memtest86+ for ram, and the disk diag you need
Boots, shows knoppix, then reboots, on continuous loop of rebooting
>>   then reboots, on continuous loop of rebooting   <<  then you have hardware problems imo.
start testing, as advised above, or start swapping parts, and keep a list !

what i did was just clicked the close button in the top right and ignored the failure message and allowed the wireless lan to turn on.
some feedback would be nice..
Sorry, had a water pipe burst in our house, just now got back to a computer.  I will try the above mentioned this evening and respond in kind.
i can imagine that goes first - take your time then !
It appears it has been the wireless card the entire time.  I do not know why HP could not have told me this a month ago.
