Windows update error on Windows 7 Code 80072F76

I'm trying to apply updates from WSUS to my new windows 7 machine. Updates are detected, but when i try installing, i'm facing Code 80072F76 error.

WSUS working fine on windows XP, 2003.

Hi,

Well, are you using any proxy client on this client where you are updating Windows 7 and getting this error, if yes, then for the time being take off proxy setting and get direct gateway to go to internet and then update Windows 7.

If that is not the case then I would also suggest you to download MalwareByte, update it, and run a full scan of it to check if any Malware found in your PC.

Hi farazhkhan,

I'm using WSUS as my source for updates, its a local LAN site. I'm sure there is no malware, its a fresh installation, and i have anti-virus installed as well.

Are you usins ISA server in your network and are you ocnfigured with Proxy?

yes i'm using ISA and proxy. But that is the case in all my network. And everything is working fine.

Well, this error has been reported when updating with WSUS and having ISA as proxy!

Can you also post error from windowsupdate.log and let me know.

i uplaoded a part of the windowsupdate.log file, again i don't have problem on similar windows 7 machines running the same configuration.

Hi,

Can you take off the machine from the proxy and make it SecureNat client by providing ISA server internal IP as gateway, and then recheck. That will confirm for us that whether the issue is with ISA to WSUS or only WSUS related.

could you check the policy applied on windows 7 pcs and check if its the same policy applied on the xp machines.

do you have any error concerning this particular machine on the wsus server, can you telnet the wsus server from this machine using the port specified for the WSUS server? is this machine appeared at your WSUS server under certain group of computers.
