Front vs Rear Audio ports sound quality

Does the rear port have better sound quality than the front audio ports?  I am asking because I got a new pair of headphones and I want the best sound quality out of them because they are audiophile headphones.  My 2.1 speaker system is plugged into the rear right now and the front is the best spot for my headphones because it is easily reached.  I was thinking the rear would be better because it is a part of the motherboard and the front you need to connect those little wires to a spot on the board.  Now I tried plugging them into the back and I could hear the volume dim and the audio not as good.  Maybe it's just my mind playing tricks on me because I wanted to use the front port.  Any suggestions would be great!
