Windows 2008 Active directory integrated DNS

Hi experts,

Current Primary DNS is Win2000 server (NON-AD integrated) hosting several zones (such as abc.net, eng.net, etc) and one of them is the xyz.abc.com

We intend to setup a new Win2K8 AD domain with the same name (ie xyz.abc.com). How do i transfer the zone (xyz.abc.com) from Win 2000 DNS to the new Win2K8 AD-integrated DNS?

Create a new primary zone on 2008 AD-server without enabling that data shall be stored in AD initially.
Copy the original dns-file from 2000 server to %WINDIR%\System32\dns on 2008 AD-server.
Reload the zone
Change the zone-property in DNS to be stored in AD.
Should be pretty straight-forward.
There are two way to achieve this.
Go to dns admin console.
Right click the zone you want to transfer(xyz.abc.com),select properties.
Click on the zone transfer tab.
Enter the IP of the server where you want to transfer the dns zone.

Convert the zone into primary or AD-integrated according to your wish.
Second method is manual copy of dns files which is not required.

Configure the W2K8 Box without creating Domain.
Add DNS role,
copy the xyz.abc.com zone dns files from the old server
configure this zone on the W2K8 DNS server
Then start creating the Domain AD pointing to the server hosting this zone as the DNS server.

you can copy the files of DNS from windows\systems32\dns to the same location in windows 2008
