Exchange Writer Error Retryable error
On a Server 2008 standard, 64 Bit, service pack 2. Running exchange 2007. When trying to backup exchange using Backup Exec 12.5, I have the following error.
Snapshot provider error (0xE000FED1): A failure occurred querying the Writer status.
So I ran VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS with the result.
Writer name: 'Microsoft Exchange Writer'
Writer Id: {76fe1ac4-15f7-4bc
Writer Instance Id: {2fc40b75
State: [8] Failed
Last error: Retryable error
The event log shows
Exchange VSS Writer (instance 69321b8f-5b70-472c-a01f-b4
The problem as I understand it is with Microsoft VSS and not Backup Exec.
All the solutions I have seen relate to a 2003 server but I am not finding much on 2008 server. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Yes this is a full copy with exchange agent.
I have set this up on other similar servers (2008, Backup Exec 12.5) but not encountered this issue before.

usually when Backupexec gives you an error in the job log, there is a link to click to get more information on what the error means and how to resolve it... do you see any of this?

I have been through most of this already and they are pointing to microsoft VSS as the issue. Can anyone suggest any hot fixes that may be avaliable for 2008 as I know they exist for 2003.

restart the information store. Rebooting the server does the same thing.
In the backup job did you specify to use the Backup Exec Exchange Agent?
