Windows Defender in Corporate Domain

We use Symantec Anti-Virus for all of our computers inside of our office right now.  It works for viruses, but is missing quite a bit of spyware etc.  That said, I was wondering if anyone has deployed Windows Defender to their XP machines via GPO & whether that is helping?  If so, how do you deploy it with the settings of when to do scans etc, any exclusions (if even needed)?.  I have WSUS, so I think that it is already downloading definitions & would assume it would push those to Windows XP machines.

If you don't use Windows Defender, what other anti-spyware applications do you use that are real-time, but won't cause a lot of headache in the long-run.

Windows 2003 domain (soon to be Windows 2008 domain) with Windows XP SP2 & SP3.  Some Windows 7 machines, but they already have Windows Defender
