GoVault 80Gb Internal - Eject Problems

Hi,
I have a client with the above drive cartridge system.
This works well for them, but there is a problem, I believe with the software drivers for this unit. I use it in a SBS2003, with SBS backup in use.
The problem is:
If the administrator for the server is not logged in, we cannot eject the disk, even several hours after the backup has completed.
As soon as we remotely log into the server, the eject button will work, and the cartridge will be ejected.
GoVault support state that this is by desgin, but surely this cannot be?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
