Free up resources on server
Hi all
I have a server that is totally maxed out
this is a HP ProLiant ML370 G4
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
3.20 gigahertz Intel Xeon
16 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Hyper-threaded (2 total)
3584 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory
it performs the following rolls
D.C,
exchange (also live exchange),
print server (for about 15 printers ),
file server,
backup server (for Arc Serve. This is also managing backups for 4 extra servers )
Manages scanners (about 10 scanners),
all the usual stuff like DHCP, DNS, etc.
Also this server handles up to 40 remote desktop sessions for long periods of time
And could have 40 to 50 workstations accessing files and folders through VPNs
Also manages the smart UPS software for 5 servers
Manages all security systems for the company (EG: alarms, swipe cards on all doors in the company)
Also manages software for clock in machines
also hosts several databases
At the present time the company does not have the budget for a new server but I managed to free up
an old server
this is a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Fujitsu Primergy TX200 S3,
Intel Xeon 1.6Ghz,
1Gb RAM
as you can see I really need to take some pressure off the server
I want to use this second server for the best benefit to the customer
What would be the best to do here and what would be the best combination of rolls to move to the new server?
Thanks
Robbie
