LNK2001 errors moving from VC++6 to VS2010

I am attempting to rebuild a VC++6 project using VS2010 beta. All is good except for two unresolved externals:

DeviceAccess.lib(PnpDevice.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "void __cdecl std::_Xlen(void)" (?_Xlen@std@@YAXXZ)
DeviceAccess.lib(PnpDevice.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "void __cdecl std::_Xran(void)" (?_Xran@std@@YAXXZ)

DeviceAccess.lib is a library used by my DLL project so the linker is not complaining about my code itself, rather references made by the lib file I am using.

I've had a look on the web and there is quite a lot mentioned about it but I'm having trouble isolating the problem in my specific context. I don't think its a VS2010 beta problem as similar issues have arisen on VS2008 and VS2005.

Any suggestions regarding how to go about diagnosing and correcting this problem gratefully received.
