Crystal Report export to pdf ver 1.4
I am using Crystal Reports 8.5 and 10.0.
The reports have a facility to export to PDF format. We use to export the reports into pdf format and send it to our clients.
One of my client's printer supports pdf version 1.4 only. Is there a way I can export the reports into version 1.4. In fact I want to export it into pdf version 9 or 1.4 (depending on whatever I choose)
Alternatively, is there a way I can covert the pdf 9.0 version to version 1.4.

Sorry forgot the alternative method :o)
You can also use the Optimiser in the Acrobat Pro version. This has a 'Make compatible with...' dropdown and again you select Acrobat v5 as your target format.

If I choose the option 1, and create a setting file; how can I selectively opt for the pdf version? Is there a way? It is because the Distiller settings would be done in the Production environment, and would not be able to toggle the settings.
The second option is good. But it involves the user to open each pdf and then save it again by choosing in the dropdown for compatibility.
(Very happy for the quick answer.)

There is no way in CR to control that.

yes there is. but you will need to have Acrobat full version for this. I am not sure whether you have a built in converter wit CR or if you have Acrobat already...
When you convert to PDF, Acrobat uses Distiller to create the PDF file. If you open Distiller you can set the compatibility to Acrobat 5.0 which is PDF 1.4. To do this select 'Edit Adobe PDF Settings' from the Settings menu and the option is on the first dialog page.
This can then be saved as a settings file allowing you to quickly select this whilst otherwise use the default settings for your version.
