Glassfish running on IBM i5?

Hi

I'm just curious to know if anyone has testet glassfish v3 on an IBM i5 server V610, and made it work? I have tried it, but can't make it work. From QSH I get the following:

> asadmin start-domain
Waiting for DAS to start .Error starting domain: domain1.
The server exited prematurely with exit code 1.
Before it died, it produced the following output:

`ççzNä     Ä     ¢£  åÔÖ £   ¢z@   ¤
 £@  £@¥    %ä¢
.... Lots of garbage ..
Command start-domain failed.
$

I had to add the line "AS_JAVA=/QIBM/ProdData/Java400/jdk6" to the asenv.conf, or it gave me error on wrong Java version.
I can not see any errors in the server.log, but attach the log anyway.

Would be very happy if someone could give me the answer on this one.
Thanx

The log file says that it was successfulyl launched. Are you still getting the error after adding the AS_JAVA property?

Yes, the output described is after adding the AS_JAVA property. Before adding the AS_JAVA, the error was simply Wrong Java version.

Are there any other log files?

No, only server.log is present.

What happens if you start it with --watchdog or --verbose options?

I figured out a problem in the standard setup for domain1. A JVM system value is "-client". It seems the JVM for OS400 doesn't recognize this value. Removing it from the domain.xml made a big difference. Now the server starts, allthough the admin-console fails with "javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactoryConfigurationError: Provider com.sun.org.apache.xalan.internal.xsltc.trax.TransformerFactoryImpl not found". Will test a few more options, and see what happens.

BTW: --watchdog is not recognized as a valid option for "asadmin start-domain"

it's probably some version incompatibility, since you are usign a newer version of java. Try to download another provider and set it in the command line

java -Djavax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory=<your transformer>
