Kyocera FS-1010 printer PCL XL Error

Kyocera FS-1010 printer. Windows XP.

Printing a pdf, Publisher or Word document, with a graphic on the page. The page will print only with a text error. Or one page will print and then one more page with the error text.

Receiving the following error message or similar.

PCL XL error
Subsystem: Kernel
Error: UnsupportedProtocol.
Operator: 0x0
or
Operator: EndFontHeader

I have searched the net, appears to be a common problem. But I can not find a suitable fix.

I have downloaded and installed the latest driver. Problem still present.

I have tried changing the PCL settings (I think this was the setting, the printer is at my place of employment and currently I am at home) to a different setting, still the problem.

The printer is connected to a desktop computer through LPT1. The problem is present from this computer. The problem is also present from a notebook computer which is connected through a wireless network.

How do I overcome this problem?

Fully uninstall the printer drivers first. Restart the system and then freshly install the drivers. The driver looks corrupted.

Thanks, what procedure do you suggest I use to  "fully" uninstall the drivers?
I may have fixed the problem.
I read an operating manual for the printer and learnt about the GDI option, within the Device settings.
I "checked" the GDI box and it appears my problem may be fixed.
I will keep this question open for a while and then post my update.
I have had a situation like that before and I solved it installing anonther type of driver.
Kyocera as available for that printer several drivers such as Classic PCL driver, KPDL Classic-driver, Kyocera Classic KPDL Universaldriver, KX driver and Classic KPDL driver.
You can download them and try if one of them works fine.

PCL6 drivers often produce kernel errors when there is something wrong with the data. As jrtec suggests, changing to another driver (PCL5, PS, etc) usually fixes it.

Another possibility: when printing from Acrobat, click the Advanced button and then "Print as image". Unfortunately that is not available in Word, etc.

Pardon my ignorance, but how do I know if the points have been assigned equally to each person who posted a comment? (This was what I wanted to do.)
