Microsoft Excel opens hyperlinks with wrong program
I have an issue on my Windows XP where all my Microsoft Office programs open hyperlinks with the wrong program. For example, from explorer when I click on a .DWG file it will open with AutoCAD 2004 but if the file path is pasted into a cell in Excel it will open in AutoCAD 2010 from there. I have already checked default programs and file types from control panel. They are set to the correct program. This also happens in word, powerpoint, etc. Is there a way to change the default association for file extensions in these programs? Thanks
have you tried dwg trueview or DWF Composer

HVHSTech: What do you mean? I can only get DWG files to open in AutoCAD 2010 from Excel. I want them to open in 2004 (both are installed on my computer). I dont see how installing DWG TrueView will solve this problem for me.
i apologize i misread the question
if the hyperlink leads to a file on your pc just change the default program that the file opens with
so from 2010 to 2004

HVHSTech: As mentioned in my original post, I have already tried that. 2004 is already set to the default for DWG files but this setting only applies to DWG files I open from windows explorer. Within Office applications the default program selection is not registered and it continues to open with AutoCAD 2010.
if you copy the hyperlink then use Windows Key + R, (to open the Run Box), then paste the hyperlink & hit Enter, will it open in the right program

That defeats the whole point. I want to have these hyperlinks embeded in Excel so that I can open the files directly from a cell by clicking on it.
