chkdsk /f untility on our exchange server
We have and exchange server running windows 2003 enterprise server with exchange 2003 standard. We have been getting errors in our event log (the file system structure on the disk is corruot and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility in the volume DataPart2). I plan on running the utility on out data volume. Everything expect the windows install files are on this partition. Our PRIV files are located on this partition. My question is, Do I need to dismount the store before running the chkdsk utility? Besides backing up , is there anything else I will need to do before running this?
Thanks

Instead of windows running it automatically I will be running it manually using chkdsk /f. When running this do I need to dismount the store? Will it automatically dismount? Or can it run while being mounted?

Id like users to be able to still recieve emails while Im running this as we are 24/7 here.

Our Barracudda holds any message that comes though and pushes it when the exchange is back up. The problem with this company is we need to respond quick when emails come in so Id rather run it while being mounted.

A good back up of the drive will be all you need, maybe some notes on any configuration just incase?
