How can I implement a rating control within my web application?

I have developed an web application using visual studio 2008 that has a listview frontend and an sql server 2005 database backend. I am using a linq to sql datacontext to connect to my backend db.

I am hoping to implement some sort of rating control that will only allow users to rate once against a particular set of data. I also want my rating control to show an overall average rating score if possible. I have attempted to use the ajax rating control but this seems hard to customise as it only accepts round int values where I require the control to accept double float values in order to show an average rating.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I actually already came across that link, unfortunately it's not possible to show this control in a read only view meaning anyone can vote a maximum of once against a certain dataset where I need this locked down.

Infact, this did lead to the eventual solution as I was able to customise this control to meet my needs.
