Canon ImageRunner C3480 on Mac OS X 10.6

We are using a Canon ImageRunner C3480 managed by a Windows 2003 print server. We control access to color printing by using a Department ID.

The problem is when users who use Macs try to print to the color printer, it does not give them the option to enter the Department ID and it just prints in black and white. What needs to be done to get this to work?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do you own the ImageRunner outright, or do you lease it from a third party?

It's technically a leased machine.

I would contact your vendor to see what Mac support there is for the printer when hosted via Windows Server.  It may be that the MAC machines need to connect directly to the printer.  Your vendor should have that answer, though.

Did you try using the UFR II driver? I know that has an option for Job Accounting.

I have tried used the UFR II driver and the Job Accounting functionality. It returns an error 50 whenever I try printing.

I apologize for sounding like a broken record (I wonder how much longer I can use this analogy and still be understood... ;-), but have you contacted your lease holder to see what support options they have on the device?
