Print Spooler causing Windows XP to be very slow.

I can stop the print spooler service and the PC runs fast, but when I start the service it slows the PC down so much it is unusable.

Are you noticing high CPU Usage in the Task Manager, for spoolsv.exe?

Maybe a driver is there that is causing it to crawl?

Delete the printer from Printers and Faxes (I would suggest deleting them all).

Once the printer is deleted, go to start<>run>cmd

net stop spooler
net start spooler

That should free up the drivers to delete them.....

Totally remove the driver, once you deleted the printer. To do this,  go to Printers and faxes>File>Server Properties>Drivers, and delete whats there. (Deleting the driver doesnt delete the drivers).

Reinstall the first printer, and test..... Does the PCresume to normal speeds?

Then keep installing additional printers, until it either fails, or works ok....
