Font settings are not accessible in MS Word 2007

Hi,

With 2 documents, Word 2007 has all of the font setting controls disabled (grayed out). If you select any text, or try to insert new text, you cannot adjust the font, size, bold and any other attributes as you can't click on them. However, clicking on a Style button works.

Other documents are fine, and these have "unrestricted access" checked under the review tab, just like other documents. You can actually modify the document by inserting text; you just can set font attributes.

Any ideas ?
Thanks
Rene

I wonder if going Ctrl A, then Ctrl C and then open a brand new word doucment and going Ctrl V solves your issue.

eg Copy the contents of the document into a fresh document.

I don't think that it should act quite like that, but have you checked for 'Formatting restrictions'? This setting is accessed via Developer tab, Protect document button.

Under the Review tab/Protect document button, restrict formatting and editing is not checked.

Well, it's been a while to think about this trick...
Seems to take care of it.
Thanks
