Outlook 2007 / Exchange - OST-file

A collegue of mine works on a laptop with Vista and Outlook 2007 installed on it. The Outlook is connected to an Exchange 2007-server.
I've been reading some things about the filesize of OST-files. My collegue's OST is app. 4Gb great.
Towards the end of a workday he gets the following message in Dutch): Kan het bestand voor offlinemappen niet configureren (in English??): Cannot configure the file for offline folders.

I've already tried the ScanOST-tool for checking on errors and the compress-tool but both tools didn't help me any further.

Anyone?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
