PowerPoint 2007 Graph Object Edit Data is Grayed Out

I have a graph object that has its edit data greyed out.  It is a verified graph object where I can format the axis, etc.  How can I unlock this?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Sounds like you received this from someone who pasted in the Excel chart in PPT 2007. This creates a linked file -- you get a formattable graph object, but you don't get the data. You need access to the spreadsheet it's linked to.

Note that 2007 works differently than 2003. When you paste a chart from Excel 2003 to PPT 2003, it embeds the entire workbook.

Thanks for the tip, I wasn't aware of the change between 2003 and 2007.
