Can not join Black Armor NAS 220 to domain

Have Windows Server 2008. If I try to join the Black Armor NAS 200 to the domain I get: Failed to join domain.[NET_ERROR:no logon server available to service the logon request]
I not completely sure of the Domain Netbios name. I assume that this is Domain controller name.
I can see the domain controller in the network neighborhood (Windows Explorer) on the Windows XP computer that I used to log into the Seagate drive.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The domain netbios name was the first part of the domain name.

What I did to get the NAS 220 to join the domain is give it a static IP address.
