cannot connect using Cisco asdm from home

i can connect at work no problem using the asdm (ver 1.5) to cisco but through the vpn I get an error message
"unable to launch device manager from 172.16..."

firewall does allow permission through the vpn to do this

Is the http enabled on the outside interface?  Is the VPN pool allowed to connect?

You need to allow management through VPN for this to work and you also need to make sure your IP is in the list of allowed IPs to access the ASDM.

To allow management access from the VPN run
management-access inside


to make sure you are allowed to access the ASDM use this command (replacing NETWORK/ MASK with the ip and mask of the network you are connecting from
http NETWORK/ MASK inside

Let me clarify on the command
http NETWORK/ MASK inside

you would use the IP info you get from the VPN (http 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 inside)

DO NOT ENABLE HTTP ON THE OUTSIDE it is a security risk, if you need to enable anything on the outside use SSH

Make sure that network is in the allowed http hosts

It has to be since I was able to install it yesterday from the lan. Maybe I'm missing something or theres another way to install it from the lan??
