"Send As" from entourage

Hi Experts

I'm trying to "send as" from another user and not "on behal of"  in entourage 2008.   I have all the permissions correct as I can login to a windows box and "send as" via outlook.

When I send from entourage the recipient receives the mail from user@testdomain.com on behalf of user2@testdomain.com.au.  Any ideas?

Hi JetSupport

Unfortunately, I only have Entourage 2004.  Did this work for you in an earlier version but now it says 'on behalf of' since you started using 2008?  I'm just checking, because in 2004 I can send mail from my Entourage application using accounts I have delegate access to and it says "..... (sent by My Name)" in the From: field in the recipient's In Box.

I believe that this needs to be configured in the Exchange server settings. The administrator needs to give user@testdomain.com.au send as permission to user2's mailbox. It's done in active users and computers on the server.

Here is a page with details:

Send as permission has already been set - As I mentioned in my question this works in a Windows environment.  I'm at a loss as to why Entourage treats this differently

Entourage actually connects to Exchange 2003 using OWA rather than the native protocols that Outlook uses. Unfortunately, you don't appear to be able to use Send As using OWA:

http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/tips/q-how-do-i-perform-a-send-as-operation-when-using-microsoft-outlook-web-access-owa-.aspx

My reading of this is that it won't work using Entourage.

What you can do is to configure a separate exchange entourage account for the user2 account, and send from that user account.

In other words, within entourage, there are two separate accounts, user1 and user2. The downside is that the user will see all the email for both accounts - it is as if user2 was logging in to their email from two separate machines.

Not an elegant solution, but should give you the result you are wanting.

This EE question also deals with this issue:
