How to change Exchange from Mixed to Native without the old Exchange server (or any new ones)

We are installing Exchange 2010 on a new server 2008, and the setup of 2010 requires that exchange be in nattive mode. We do not have the old exchange server running as it died, so how can we change to native mode with out having exchange installed somewhere.

Thanks

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If Exchange 2003 no longer exists in your organisation then you will first need to cleanup active directory so that it is aware of this.

To do this using the Exchange 2003 CD run: setup.exe /removeorg
this will remove ALL Exchange information from Active Directory.

It will not allow me to run /removeorg in server 2008, gives me combatibility problems and blocks the operation, same with installing exchange 2003... we have tried many things to remove the old exchange but nothing seems to work.

Do you have a Windows XP or 2003 computer/server you can run this command on?
If not we will need to use ADSIEdit to remove the organisation.

Let me know and I will provide exact details.

yes, do you want us to run /removeorg from a XP PC?

Ok, we have a 2003 server we can run it on, but I just want to make sure this will not affect anything but the old Exchange setup??

Thanks

When you say old exchange setup, do you currently have a working exchange setup?

This will remove ALL exchange configuration from active directory.  It will only effect the exchange configuration.
