I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

an alias is usually referring to a DNS record and does not involve active directory although your DNS can be AD integrated - but that is really not relevant.  So for example if your computer was origianlly called "computer1" on the network and you want it to be called "bobo", and alias can be put in DNS so that the system would reply to both names.  Is that what you are trying to do?

Yes, then it does not matter if it's a PC or a Server they can add the DNS record?

I know this can be done with a web site but I was not sure if  a regular PC that does not have a web site or anything could have an alias.
