sharepoint group membership is not updating in sharepoint

I have started using audience targeting in sharepoint. I have one user that is not getting the changes that take effect. I created an active directory group called staff intranet users and added my staff to the group. I set web parts to show for this group. I have one user that is not able to see the web part even though he is a member of this group. I have had him log off and log back in and log in on different pcs. If I remove the audience targeting then he can see the web parts, when I put it bakc on he can no longer see them. why is sharepoint not reflecting that this user is a part of the group staff intranet users?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If the user is alraedy addedn in sharepoint "People and Groups" you need to remove and add it again. If is not there try an iisreset.

the group staff intranet users is in the site permissions. the user in question is able to view the page. the web parts however do not show up. this only effects one user. an iis reset did not work.
What if you import users from ADS from
Shared Services Administration: SharedServices > User Profile and Properties. This should refresh users info from ADS on sharepoint ...
