How do I increase maximum heap size for a Java app

error message reads. The Application requires a larger maximum heap size to run from the shortcut. The minimum heap size requirement for the application is 270 Mb.

-Xms270m -Xmx270m (or -ms270m -mx270m for Java 1.1)

ms is an initial size and mx is a maximum. The above example will set heap size to 270MB and will not allow it to increase

Basically the numeric value (here: 520) can be set half the size of your memory.
For eg: If you are using 1GB of Ram, set the numeric value to 512M.
            (1024/2 = 512)
