I have a old domain exchange server which is also a backup domain controller. exchange isnt running on it any more and its just on for a BDC. every month or so the server becomes unresponsive and logs tons of active director errors and I have to reboot it. once it reboots all is fine. Its running find at the moment but I have these MSExchangeDSAccess messages every 10 seconds! they are just informational, I dont understand why it would be doing it so frequently!

Have you uninstalled exchange from it fully if it isn't running Exchange anymore?

all of the exchange services are stopped; when I was uninstalling exchange I believe I tried to cancel it and then the uninstaller vanished! so the services are there but exchange isnt really loaded. could that be why and how would I remove it fully if thats the case?

Also open regedit and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeDSAccess\Diagnostics
Set Topology to 0

See if the event stops... might need an iisreset or reboot.

Do the reg fix first and hopefully the event will go away without any service restarts...
