Windows 7 sooo slow copying files..
My W7 HP system on my laptop is getting slower and slower at copying/deleting files..
81/2 minutes to empty the recycle bin of 1.69 GB 4100 files is an example, making a copy of a folder runs at just 3MB/sec.
Never had a problem with the RC or Beta.. it's like Vista was before SP1.

Lots of space, over 100GB free, CPU fine, no viruses or spyware.
Hi, sounds like an AHCI driver issue.
Have a look here:

You said it's getting slower, so it was fast before, right?
If so then it wouldn't be a driver issue unless you've maken some update after which the problem began!
Any way if it is not the AHCI driver or the chipset driver, which you are advised by the way to update anyhow, then I would go for a nice defragmentaion of the HD.
Are you using some encrypting decrypting software or anything? Have you tried disabling antivirus and antispyware if installed!?

Yes tried all that :-) , maybe it's my imagination that it's BECOME slower, I have dual boot XP/W7 and maybe it's just that XP is much much faster.
