I added a new Windows 2008 Ent R2  machine in an existing domain. Installed a fresh copy of SQL 2008 Ent 64
I am simply adding new users to the database. If i browse through the drop down and search entire domain etc i can pick users just fine, i get that error when i try to add users.
I have tried management studio, sp_grantlogin etc but i get the same error.

i am logged in as a member of the domain admin group , and admin on sql server

i check SSID from syslogin table, there are no users yet except myself and default users. So no duplicates possible.

Have you seen this KB article?

I have looked at that kb but it did not help. I Googled and went through many posts but none were helpful.
When I intalled the SQL server I added my domain account  as admin with no issue. May b I can reinstall and add all accounts at that time? But that does not solve my problem.
