Convert Fillable Forms to Mac

I have an old Windows program called Formtool (Form Workshop 600) and I've created a lot of forms over the years.  Now that I'm using Mac, I'd like to convert these forms to a usable format and still have them fillable.  I've about given up finding a program that will actually convert the files (.ftf), so maybe there's a program out there that will allow me to scan the forms and then designate the sections I want to be filled.  Does anyone know of a program that will do this?

It looks like Acrobat Pro can do this, but it costs around $400. Does anyone know of a cheaper or better solution?

Thanks

Well, if you go for a Fujitsu ScanSnap 1500M you get a doublesided sheetfeed scanner which comes with a full copy of Acrobat Pro, and is around $400 on Amazon

Not a cheaper solution, but you do get a very good scanner into the bargain....

Cheers,

I wish there was a cheaper software-only option, but the suggestion by dalesit to purchase the scanner/software combo was excellent.
