EnablePassword on CATOS

I am trying to change the enable password on a CAT4006 switch. Everytime I configure a new password and try to log back in, it lets me in with the OLD password and not the new one.
I am using the followng command to change the password:

set enablepass <password>

Please note that when I type in this command, the switch does not ask me to enter the old password and then the new password twice. It just asks for the new password.

Please advise.

Hello there,

There is a slightly longer process when you are CHANGING an existing password on the catalyst 4000/4500 switches....

Have some faith, and run the below command set!

configure terminal no enable secret!--- This step is necessary if the switch had an enable !--- secret password.enable secret < password > config-register 0x2102^Zwrite memory

The syntax for the command is:

set enablepass <enter>

Do not put the password on the command line. You will be prompted for the old password, the new password and then confirm the new password.
