Regional settings not taking effect WS2008

Hi Experts!

We've got a problem where all the websites hosted on our server are displaying currency as R535,00

That "," should be "." as I've already defined on the server in the regional settings, but it's not taking effect?

What could be causing this??

Please see this thread - you need to add a culture directive to your ASP.net pages.  The first page gives the background and the second link, to a Microsoft article, gives further information to get this working:

Hi Ady!

Thanks a mil for the quick response!

I added the setting to the web.config file, but it's still showing the wrong currency format.

Do i need to restart the website or does it take effect immediately?
Just want to know as i'll only be able to do that tonight, if it's the case.

Hi K,

You're very welcome.  My understanding is that it should work straight away.  But it might be worth restarting the website, and even the server, to see if that helps.  If not then we need to go back to the drawing board I think....

Hi Ady!

I'll arrange for the server to be restarted tonight to see if that doesn't rectify it.

Strange thing is, not even 1 client that hosts with us has moaned about the currency... Touch wood...

Will let you know by tonight.

Thanks for the help so far!

Hi again Ady!

Murphy's law, you say something has never happened, and it happens the same day.

This currency problem is a problem across the board and not only with my asp.net site. Had a complaint from another customer running a plain asp classic website. This problem surely must be related to IIS or the server itself, or both?

Hi there,

My apologies for abandoning you but I've been busy and forgot that I'd not replied here after your previous response.

Have you had any luck finding an answer or do you still need help?

Hi Ady!

With the Easter weekend i've been quite busy as well, and yes i still need help desperately!

One thing that i did pick up, is that the reports works perfectly on the server. I use "N2" format, which i assume takes the locale settings of the server, and it formats the numbers correctly. In the website though, it doesn't.

This surely has got something to do with IIS?

Yes I think you're right - this definitely has something to do with IIS; particularly as we set the locale settings in the configuration file of the website.

Leave this with me for a short time longer and I'll try and do some deeper digging.

Hi all,

Managed to sort this one out after a while.

In Control Panel, under your regional settings, there's a button called "Copy to Reserved Accounts..." under the Administrative tab, which copies your regional settings to all user accounts on the machine. This seems to have sorted out our issue on the server after a reboot.
