Help with script to check IE version

Hello all.

I would like to create small script that is called from our current logon script that will do the following:

-Check to see if the filename and path C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ie8props.propdesc exists
-If it does, write there computer name to a small text file shared on the network
-If it doesn't, write there computer name to a different small text file on the network

The goal is to upgrade everyone on the company to IE8 but the first thing I need to do is find out just how many people need it.

I reckon this is a pretty easy script to pull off, but my skills are not in this area.

If someone can help me out I would appreciate it.

Did you really just send me a link that applies to:

Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0
Microsoft  Internet Explorer 3.01
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02
Microsoft  Internet Explorer 4.0 128-Bit Edition

??? LOL.

Besides, this article is way more in-depth then what I was looking for .

I was looking more for a response like this:

Example:
if exist "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ie8props.propdesc" do something...
Blah, blah blah...

Check following batch script that you can use a login script.
@ECHO OFF
IF EXIST "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\ie8props.propdesc" (
	ECHO %COMPUTERNAME% >>\\SERVER\SHARE\IE8Found.txt) ELSE (
	ECHO %COMPUTERNAME% >>\\SERVER\SHARE\IENotFound.txt)
EXIT /B 0
