Blackberry text messages picking up wrong name from contacts

User with Blackberry Tour on Verizon and BES.  She has setup a few Contacts named ICE, ICE2, ICE3 (In Case of Emergency) with friends names and phones numbers.  She also has separate Contact entries for the friends using their names.  When she receives a text message from one of the friends, its comes up as from ICE instead of the person who sent the text msg.  Any ideas on how to make the text messages show that they are from the friend and not from ICE?  Thanks.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi, it sounds like the contacts database on the device is corrupt.  Assuming all the contacts are up to date on the desktop client (e.g. Outlook) open Contacts (on the device) > Press menu > Select Options > Type RSET (nothing appears as you type) > Select Yes to erase the device contacts (it actually says Desktop but this refers to the Desktop service book on the device) and reload a copy from the server.

Is she on handheld OS 5.0? if so, there is a known fault with one of the handheld OS builds. We have that on the Bold 9700's and there's supposed to be a fix (an updated handheld OS) that resolves that. It's hit quite a few people, including some of my customers.

Bold 9700 firmware lower than 5.0.0.442 (e.g. 5.0.0.321/344/351) is affected by the issue Jonny menioned.  This fault commonly displays the number only and won't display a contact name.

garycutri,
Re: your post on a possible corrupt contacts, you are saying after RST, resend Service Books from the BES?
Thanks

After the RSET command the device should correct itself without resending service books.
