Split column names in 2 lines SharePoint

I am creating a list that has about 20 columns. Some of these column names are long but the data expected is very less. As the column name is long, it is taking up too much space on the list when we view it. Is there a way to split the column name into 2 lines in a list?

No, one of the rules for a list is that the column names are stored in a single cell (to be displayed on a single line).

Yes, I know that. Is there any way to change it using SharePoint designer or something else?

One could change the underlying .aspx.  It is html table.  What version of SharePoint are you working with?  You are talking about looking at a list in table view?   Access can generate views for use in SharePoint, too.
