Best practice for swapping drives when backup up with Backup Exec System Recovery?

I got a backup job in Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 2010 configured to be performed every Thursday. This job is sent to two different drives, alternating each week (one goes offsite, one is connected to the server, then they switch every Friday). Problem is that even though the drives are both recognized as drive F, and they're both labeled in Windows and in BESR as 'Red', BESR will often complain on Thursdays that it can't find the target drive, and backup fails.

I can't split it into two jobs with a monthly schedule (one job every 1st and 3rd Thursday to Drive1, and the other job every 2nd and 4th Thursday to Drive2), because BESR only allows you to schedule based on 1st DAY or 10th DAY of the month, not 1st Thursday or 3rd Monday of the month.

Does anyone have a best practice suggestion for how to successfully and reliably backup with one backup job going to two different drives, alternating?

The reason this is happening is that it assigns unique ID to each drive.

The workaround I have been able to come up with is to attach the USB drive to a different system and map using an admin share.  This way it doen't check it.

So it would go something like this \\server2\F$\   on a different system.  This will allow you to swap drives as needed becaue the second system doesn't assign any ID and by using admin share you avoid losinghe share as if you used a normal network share.
