my advice is not to downgrade to IE7. Use the compatibility mode (icon is next to the aadress bar). IE8 is more secure (as secure as microsoft can get :) so it is not a good idea to downgrade. If you have a problem with some website, try other free browsers (firefox, google chrome, ...)

If you can do a Windows XP repair install, it will revert IE to version 6 then you can update to IE7

Any other solution without repair install???
I don't know why it didn't revert back to IE7 when you uninstalled IE8 under Add or Remove. I also don't know why the web sites won't work with IE8.
I would try reinstalling IE8 and try those sites again. Most sites that say that IE7 is required usually mean that they won't work with IE6.

Hi,
As Marek27 advise, it's not recommended to downgrade to IE7.
Have you tried the Compatibility View? Also you can download Google Chrome or Firefox.

start>run, and paste the following....
C:\windows\ie8\spuninst\sp uninst.exe
What happens? Does the uninstaller start, or nothing happens?
