Save game restore in DOW II?

I played DOW II a year ago on a friend's computer.  I finished the game and saved the .sav file for when I purchased the game on my own one day.  Well, I just purchased DOW II AND the new expansion Chaos Rising.  I replaced the .sav game in the folder with my old one.  Both are exactly the same name (the name of my commander avatar, Razehell).  I started the game (DOW II not the expansion) and it does not seem to recognize the save game and just asks if I want to start a new campaign.  How can I fix this?
Another question: Can the expansion be played independent of whether you finished the original DOW II?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I have the solution but you are not going to be happy... I had the same problem and i was very angry so i opened a case with THQ.  Their official answer is that the offline accounts are somehow tied to the online accounts and cannot be transfer'd.  I have looked all over for hacks and nothing seems to work.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...

Have a good one!

Why do game makers cause us such problems??

Anyway, Can the expansion be played independent of whether you finished the original DOW II?

Whoa!  By your answer, does this mean I have to do the ENTIRE old campaign in DOW II to keep my rank/level/weapons/power rating, etc. BEFORE I play the expansion??

If true, that really s--ks, since I can not restore my saved game.

Hello, is there an answer to my last query?  Once I get that, I will close this out and award points.

Sorry it took me awhile.  Yes it is just like fallout3 where you build onto everything and content is added to help you through the game, obviously with a lot more cool stuff.  I feel your pain man, yes it sucks but look at the bright side you get to play a great game again! if you have anymore questions feel free to email me.

True, it is a great game, but I have to go through the "been there, done that" mood all the way through the game, AGAIN!  Oh well, I appreciate your answers.  You did a great job.
