I have two other Hyper V virtual machines running, and one or both of them are probably utilizing the DVD ROM drive M:
How can I remove the DVD ROM drive from the Windows XP Hyper V virtual machine that I want to start? I have looked through the different settings, but haven't seen a way of doing this.

you cannot do that?
If this is a Server 2008 domain and the XP client is a domain member you should do this through group policy on your domain controller. You can remove whichever drive access you want through group policy. In fact, you can remove them all in terms of access through windows explorer.
