SQL-server on IIS

Hi,

I'm wondering if it is an ok solution to keep the SQL-database for our official website on the same 2003-server as the IIS is running. The server is in the DMZ of our ISA-server.

Would it be a better solution to have the SQL-server on the LAN and the IIS on the DMZ? What is best practice in this situation?

Ideally SQL server requires a dedicated machine for better performance but you can keep it in a single machine provided load in your Windows 2003 server is less..
Make sure that you have configured AWE, Min and Max Server Memory in SQL server for better performance..

So there are no obvious security concerns in doing this?

Reg Security issues, you need to be more careful in granting appropriate users to the system and SQL Server:

* Remove Built in administrator user from SQL Server
* Create a user with sysadmin priviledge and Disable sa account.
* Grant only the required priviledges for users in your SQL Server..
