When exiting a shadow session the user gets disconnected as well?

Over the last few months, when I do a shadow session on the terminal server everything is fine till I hit ctrl + * to end the shadow.  I get disconnected fine but the user I was shadowing is also getting disconnected from the session as well.  All the users have rdp 6.0 or higher, the terminal server is a 2008, and they are using Windows XP with SP3.  I have tried searching but I have not come across this issue yet.

you should try a different escape hotkey combination - but only use the drop-down menu to select whichever you want.

i've also resolved this by updating the video card drivers on:  the server, the user's computer, and the admin's computer (your local desktop)

on some servers those resolved the problem, on some servers the problem still exists...  had a phone call with MS product support $250 and their answer was basically "it's a bug...we're embarrassed...we'll fix it in a future operating system"
