How to clean Postfix mailbox
Hello;
I am using Postfix with my Hylafax "email to fax" and "fax to email" feature. I found that my /var/spool/mail/root mailbox has a lot of content, how can I erase them. I believed this is a mailbox to receive some kind of notification whenever I sent fax or receive fax. The mailbox has 51199748 bytes, I want to clean it but how?
thanks!

PS: You might read http://www.issociate.de/board/post/422748/Purging_Mailboxes.html for some warnings as well - but if you know what you are using the mail for (as it looks like), you can purge when there is no mail that is incoming so you should be fine.

if I use following command, does it permanently delete the file or I need to purge it, like empty the recycle bin in windows.
rm root
rm root
Deletes permanently - no safety net on Unix.
That's why I say: First backup, then delete. Just in case. If you make it wrong - you have the backup.
