Auto-title document workflow problem

I created a simple workflow that will copy a document name to file title (Under actions: Set Title to SomeLibrary:Name). When uploading the document I leave the Title empty and select an additional category value from a dropdown list and click OK.

Then I get the following error:
The file SomeLibrary/sampledoc.pdf has been modified by DOMAIN\username on 29 Mar 2010 15:09:18 -0700.
Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.

Despite the error the name is copied to the title but the category field is empty and I have to edit an item again to set it.

Why it is not working? What is the problem here?

This is some paid product - not interested.
I think this is unfortunately a problem with documents in SharePoint. The title and name fields of a document can be tricky sometimes, even with custom code. Without writing custom code to handle a correct sequence of events to do what you want, you may not be able to do this with the OOTB Title field.

The only other thing I can suggest is try checking out the file then modifying it. Afterwards automatically check it back in. Also, ensure users have the correct permission (I assume they do because they are updating it already).

If that doesn't work, you can always copy not only the title, but all fields, in your workflow. Not sure if that will remove the error or no though.
