windows 2003 - how do I do a fixboot

I need to do a fix boot on my not sure how do that...i was going to the colocation tomorrow to do this...

i was looking for something quick and dirty as I have limited time at the server...a step by step...

Boot off the CD... Access the Recovery Console by hitting "R" to access the recovery console.

( THis is for XP but same options will work fine.

Once in the recovery console you can then run fixboot and / or fixmbr commands, as always i recommend a full backup. Why are you running this? just a boot issue? or?

yes a boot issue...i had windows 2003 laid down...then I downloaded vista and now when it reboots it tries to boot up vista...

when you say boot off the cd you mean boot off the windows 2003 install cd...right??
yes but there are 2 different recovery process one uses the recovery console the other does not, DO NOT use the second one as that does a repair install.

You dont have the vista cd in the drive do you ? or on a bootable usb drive?

Also why were you tring to repalce 2003 (Server OS) with Vista (Client OS)?
