Can M5214 arrays be used with an MSA1000 or MSA1500 ?

I have two M5214 array cabinets - each have 14 x 146Gb 10K drives.  I'm looking at creating a fiber channel array but I'd prefer to not purchase a full EVA4000.  However, I'm open to options.

Obviously this is for a test/lab setup - and I'm looking at purchasing the equipment on ebay.

So - I'm quite happy if necessary to ditch the M5214 cabinets - but can I use the 28 Fiber drives from them in an MSA1500 ?  I have two DL585's - what do I need to connect these together to provide a 4Tb array which can be setup as a Oracle RAC cluster ?

Looking for lots of advice, links to documentation etc etc.  Thankyou in advance !

I dont think you can use those shelves in anything but an EVA, I recall them being firmware locked to only accept connections from certain initiators. Why not just get some HSV controllers from eBay? I have seen them go for as little as $70 per HSV100 controller, and you'd only need one of these to start with (and possibly a rebuild of the server hosting Command View so you can get back the 180 day temp license)

Can't connect them to a MSA1500, it's SCSI interconnect, not fibre channel.

For a lab you could connect them direct to fibre channel HBAs and use them as JBODs.

ok - I went out and bought a couple of HBA's and Fiber cables.  When I start up the VMWare ESXi, I see the HBA's are recognized - but I cannot see the drives on the M5214 cabinets.  Anything I'm not doing ?
