Outlook Web Access 2003 is closing IE 8 when trying to send emails on Windows 7

Hi There,

I am at my wits end trying to get Outlook Web Access to work properly on my Windows 7 laptop.

I can recieve emails fine, but when I try and send a response it shuts IE8 down all together. Initially it was coming up with a red cross in the corner, and I could not type any text in the box. I have managed to remove this red x by upgrading the S/MIME control.

I have searched high and low and followed the advise listed on the MS forum to fix this problem, but after following all their advice I am still having the issue.

If i use OWA in Firefox or safari it works ok, i can respond, but much of the functionality is lost.

I have removed the McAfee security suite, and replaced it with Nod32. And also tried resetting the ie8 settings.. no luck.

Any advice on how to resolve this issue would be much appreciated

It sounds as though you have a more general issue with IE8 crashing. I have not used IE for several years & only use Firefox. If you would like occasional ActiveX functionality with Firefox, then install the addon CoralTab which uses an IE rendering engine. You can configure CoralTab to auto load for only specific websites, i.e. //servername/exchange Windowsupdate etc. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10909
