Word 2008 for Mac changes fonts, styles, formatting when copying 1 document into another

I was merging several documents together that were all formatted identically (same font, same bullets, same margins).  The merged documents are riddled with errors.  Bullets have moved or changed type.  Pagination has changed.  Sentences that should have been in normal text are underlined, in bold, or italics (or all three).  Some paragraphs are double spaced and have 6 point spaces after each line.  What causes this and what can be done to make sure it doesn't happen again?

You need to fomrat your normal template or when you copy paste, use appropriate paste option (keep source formatting).

You may also want to tweak your editing options (tools, options, Edit tab, cut an paste options....use settings button

Sorry if i am referencing office 2003 but it is quite similar in functionality.

Hope this helps!

I was doing work on a Mac computer while away from home.  I got the answer after I returned home.  I will accept the answer and repost if I get back to the offending computer and still have problems.
