Session variables carry over from ASP to PHP?

Hi Experts,
I have a website that is running on a Windows Server, but it also able to handle PHP requests.

I am setting a session variable in the ASP side, but when I try and then read it from one of the PHP pages wtihin the site (same domain, just a different folder), it doesn't appear to carry over.

Do session variables not carry over between ASP and PHP?

NOTE: The session var is set in a standard ASP page, but I am trying to read the session variable in a WordPress Blog PHP page if that makes any difference?

no, because they don't share the server side "storage/technique" of the values.
you have to "post" the values somehow, or use a database intermediate to store the values (and still need to pass some key info to the other "world" via POST or GET to be able to find the data back)
