In Windows 2008 R2 server, can a virtual machine access a physical COM port on the server?
In Windows 2008 R2 server, can a virtual machine access a physical COM port on the server?
In windows 2008, no access to a physical COM port was available from a virtual machine... was this resolved with R2?
if not, is there a workaround?

If you are connecting to the virtual machine with remote desktop, you can enable the port redirection when you connect. You select ports in local resources at the remote desktop client.

its more of an application that is running on the virtual machine that needs to access the physical COM ports on the server
